I started in my very early teens by teaching myself HTML (by using View Source on various websites). That was over 10 years ago and since then I have gained a degree in Computing Systems where I majored in programming (both web and Windows apps) and User Interface Usability Design.

At that time, I was mostly programming websites in ASP – because thats what the university taught. I have always had a fascination with Open Source software and so decided to teach myself PHP. Once you understand programming, it takes no time to pickup another language. I prefer PHP and MySQL so thats what I try and use as often as I can.

I was working for myself as a PHP / Web Developer and I.T. support guy for almost 5 years but left the IT support field behind when I went to Honduras for a few months learning Spanish. While in Honduras, I found an orphanage with the most beautiful kids and spent most of my time in Honduras playing with these kids.

I spent 3 months in Honduras this year, and am planning to return early 2009.
