Previous web development work

Below is a brief list of some of the web development work I have been involved in.  It is meant as a way for potential clients to see some of my previous work.  On some of these projects, I was not the only person involved.  In all of these projects (unless otherwise stated) I had a role of PHP development.

  • Web developers client manager
This was developed to manage clients, their websites, and their access details.  Along with this I built in extra features such as a full range of DNS lookups and monitoring.  Server hardware details and service monitoring.
  • Rhema Broadcasting Group
I have been contracted to move their current sites into Joomla.  At this stage, all the sites are to keep the same look-and-feel.  The first one to be completed is the Life FM website www.lifefm.co.nz.
  • Ask Chris (now called InFocus Counselling) – Online counselling
This is a web application that we (the client and myself) designed and built in 2005.  Since then, there have been various changes and updates.  It is a complex app designed to protect the privacy of the clients and provide a safe place to meet with a counsellor.  They are currently in the process of bringing the service worldwide through the organisation Focus on the Family.
  • Aqualine swim – eCommerce
This is an osCommerce based website with a wholesale section that has been custom coded.  Somebody else made the design in Photoshop and I took that and built the site.  You cannot access the wholesale (Trade Accounts) section, but it involves an online version of a paper-based order form that is run from a database.  Wholesale customers place their orders through this system.
  • Sweets direct – online order form
This is by no means a pretty website.  I was contracted to build a simple online ordering system.  They have an inhouse person that manages (and designed) the website.  The link above goes directly to the order page.  I also built a corresponding back-end so the staff and can add new products and update current ones.  I also built in the functionality to add photos per product (which the customer intends to use with one of their other sites).
  • Frondiz CMS
Custom coded CMS system.  This seems to be something that most web developers do at some stage.  I designed and built this CMS with the idea that community organisations (eg, churches, youth groups) could have a cheap and simple way of getting a site online with the features they are likely to use.  It is a hosted solution and clients only need to sign up and their site is ready and waiting instantly.  They can choose from a range of templates or create their own.  They can choose from a range of addons at different prices.  There are a whole lot more features.  Development of this system has taken a back-seat with other more interesting work, however, I have a number of clients who have been loyal to the stable system for about 3 years since it was created.
  • Talent agency
For the first few months of this year I was working on a massive web application for a talent agency.  I can not provide the name because of contractural reasons.  This system involved a large amount of Ajax work, location-based lookups, multi-lingual, and so much more.
  • Film and Video Labelling Body of NZ – film rating website
This is a website with hundreds of thousands of media titles to search through.  I built a web-service to sync their in-house database to the website.  So the website is constantly updated with the latest records.  This system involves a lot of caching to speed up repeated access.
